Hanwag’s bestselling boots relaunched for 2018 with a modernised design and lighter weight
Bavarian footwear manufacturer Hanwag has announced the Tatra II GTX for spring/summer 2018 – an updated version of its popular Tatra boot. The new version features reduced weight and a revamped appearance, as well as several new features.
A new footbed has been developed to offer an ‘optimum blend’ of moisture wicking and cushioning underfoot, while an improved construction includes new flex zones around the ankle for greater comfort. The lacing hardware has also been upgraded with cast (rather than stamped) metal lace hooks, promising greater durability. The lacing system itself has been improved with the introduction of a new locking lace clamp, a feature enabling you to achieve two-zone lacing for a more secure fit around the foot while leaving it looser at the ankle if desired. There’s also a new lace hook to keep the tongue in place.
The Tatra II GTX retains Hanwag’s Vibram AW Integral sole, which is lightweight yet claimed to offer outstanding traction on tricky terrain. The uppers are made from high-quality nubuck and the boot is available with the option of either a waterproof Gore-Tex liner or a soft, hypoallergenic leather lining.
The Tatra family features an extensive range of different fits. As well as male and female-specific models, the collection includes standard, wide, narrow and even a specialist bunion fit.
As well as being cobbled on a female-specific last, the design of the Tatra Lady II Gtx has been considered by Hanwag’s Women’s Alliance, a group of female outdoor experts who work with the brand to ensure that its women’s boots offer everything female hikers are looking for in terms of comfort, performance and style. As a result of this, the Tatra Lady II GTX has been designed with a lower-cut cuff that offers greater comfort for women.
