Keswick Museum and award-winning film-maker Terry Abraham present an exhibition exploring ‘the people’s mountain’
From 20 May 2017 – 4 January 2018, you can visit a rich and fascinating exhibition on the landscape, people and history of Blencathra. Terry Abraham’s film Life of a Mountain: Blencathra, released May 2016, tells the story of this remarkably varied mountain and the people who work and play on its flanks.
The exhibition, which can be found at the Keswick Museum in the heart of the Lake District, shows how the mountain was formed and its minerals subsequently mined, life in nearby villages through the centuries, farming and sports, and much more.

Also to be found at the exhibition are paintings by artist Sue Foster. An image of her painting ‘Langdales, Shadows and Mist’ was featured in the August 2017 issue of The Great Outdoors. This painting was purchased by Terry and Sue Abraham. Many of her other works feature Blencathra prominently.
Terry Abraham is currently creating a new biopic of Alan Hinkes OBE, the first British mountaineer to climb all 14 8,000m peaks. You can keep up to date with Terry’s progress on his Twitter page @terrybnd.
