Meet Edie.

At the tender age of eighty-three, Edie Moore (Sheila Hancock) embarks on the gruelling climb to the top of Suilven. A recent widow, Edie leaves her home behind in the hopes of recapturing the magic of her youth, but what she discovers is much more than that. Through an unlikely friendship with young local Jonny (Kevin Guthrie), Edie learns just how strong and resilient she can be, and in doing so, finds herself.

Join Edie on a journey of self-discovery and heart, as she fulfils the adventure of a lifetime.

Filmed throughout the north of Scotland and heavily featuring the beautiful mountain walk on Mount Suilven near the picturesque coastal town of Lochinver, the director Simon Hunter described the process of creating Edie as his “love letter to Scotland, to the weather and heather, the mountains and waves… We could not have made the movie without the generosity, kindness and patience of the local population. I hope they can share in our pride at making such a movie that has captured hearts and minds across the world”.

Cameron McNeish, former Editor of The Great Outdoors, says: “Edie is a heartwarming tale of two old girls. One finds redemption from the storms of urban life on the craggy slopes of Assynt, the other is the uncontested showpiece of Assynt – Suilven, a veteran of very different storms.

“I adored this film. I loved the breathtaking views of one of the most magical regions of Scotland and I loved the dogged determination of a woman who was dismayed, frightened and overjoyed in equal measures by such a landscape. A simple, yet enduring tale of someone falling in love with a mountain. And remember, ‘In the Beginning, God made Assynt!'”

Go behind the scenes of Edie in the DVD and Blu-ray’s special features, as star Sheila Hancock discusses the process of climbing the mountain in real life, and how that impacted on her performance, her work and her life. A reversible sleeve exclusive to the DVD features all the best walks in Scotland, as nominated by VisitScotland, with everything from the Suilven walk in Sutherland featured in the film, to Ben Nevis in the Highlands, to Tobermory in the Isle of Hull.
