I’ve always found Keen boots comfortable and supportive. The Targhee II ones have been favourites for cold weather walking for several years. The Ketchums are similar, with the same chunky look, but a little stiffer and a little heavier with more leather and reinforcements. The fit is on the wide side. The lacing system pulls the boots in snugly round the ankle though and I’ve had no problems with heel lift. The toe and heel bumpers are very hard. Cushioning and grip are good. Laterally the boots are quite stiff whilst the forefoot flexes reasonably easily. There is foam round the collar and in the upper tongue. It’s not as thick as on some boots but I still expect the Ketchums to be too warm in summer. The weight is fairly typical for boots like this. The price is on the low side, making these great value.
