Will Renwick explains why he chose Sprayway’s Walking Rainpant as a Recommended Buy when he tested out seven different options on the market

These are a useful pair of waterproof trousers for an OK price. They’re waterproofed by Sprayway’s basic-level Hydro/ Dry technology which combines a coated polyamide fabric with a polyester mesh inner. I found that the fabric was waterproof but that it offered a very low-level of breathability. The ventilation system helped to make up for this though. It involves ¾-length zips on each leg, both complemented by an inner flap with poppers. This flap is quite useful as it means even when the zips are fully undone for ventilation you won’t be completely exposed to the rain. It’s a simple but useful design feature for when rain is falling but not too heavily.
