Given how popular leggings have become in the last few years, I thought it would be worth testing the Alpkit, Mello Tight for our guide to the best Best hiking pants for 2024, and I do like them for warmer days when I’m moving fast. The fabric is very stretchy, soft and light, and fits a more muscular build well. The length is perfect for me, so likely to be slightly cropped for taller people. The waistband is comfortable and sits high, which is ideal for under a harness or rucksack strap.

I did find that sometimes the waistband and thighs on the Alpkit, Mello Tight slipped down a bit, but not majorly and it didn’t impede movement overly. Being double layered fabric on the waist does help the fit and comfort, as well as keeping your midriff warm!
The pockets are well placed, with a generous thigh pocket that fits your phone, and keeps it in place even with vigorous movement. The zipped pocket on the waistband is suitable for keys or an energy bar/snack, although you wouldn’t want much in it under a harness or rucksack.
The fabric isn’t water resistant, but does dry very quickly, and works great for fast adventures or short showers. The flatlock seams are comfortable with all movement, and the fabric never becomes see-through even at full stretch.
