For almost 50 years, Gregory has been crafting packs to be worn – not carried – so that you can take heavier loads further into the wild. At the heart of the Salt Lake City brand’s backpacking collection are the men’s Gregory Baltoro and the Gregory Deva – a world class women-first fit pack which was groundbreaking upon launch.
These packs were never about ultralight suffering. They’re designed to feel so comfortable that they allow you the little luxuries that make any camp spot under the stars feel like home. No need to shave down your toothbrush, adventurer! And now, both the Gregory Baltoro and Gregory Deva have had a makeover for 2026, further elevating these best-in-class packs.
The Gregory Deva – The Gregory Baltoro

Carry more and feel less
Setting the standard for trail performance, the men’s Baltoro 75 (also available in 65L volume) combines Gregory’s most advanced self-carry features with added capacity for multi-day adventures. Backpack fit and performance are redefined in the Deva 70 (also available in 60L volume), the go-to women’s pack for longer hauls in the backcountry.
Anyone who’s ever come off a multi-day hike with aching shoulders and a sore back will know that effortless adventure starts with dynamic performance from your pack on the trail. Both packs are now built with an auto-rotating shoulder harness which moves naturally with your body on-trail and a FreeFloat rotating hipbelt which allows you to carry more and feel less.

The frame also boasts a fiberglass anti-barreling cross-stay so you can feel steady while carrying any load over rough terrain – even at full capacity. And with recommended maximum carry weights of 29.5kg, respectively, that’s a lot of trail mix to keep you going.
As you’d expect with Gregory, the technical carry features don’t compromise your comfort. The breathable AirCushion mesh back panel promises all-day ventilation. The 3D shoulder harness and hipbelt construction also helps eliminate wrinkling and hot spots, instead giving you body-hugging stability.

The lumbar pad is built with what Gregory dub ‘Comfort Grip’ and is designed to prevent slipping, keeping the pack positioned high on your hips without the need to over-tighten the hipbelt.
Pack up your troubles
Now, let’s talk pockets! Comprehensive storage includes a harness, U-zip, sidewinder and a front stuff pocket with durable hybrid stretch-mesh fabric for easy access on-the-go. Clever internal solutions on both packs keep gear organised and within reach with dual front zippered pockets and a dedicated sleeping bag compartment the likes of which we at The Great Outdoors have yet to see on any other big pack.

Gregory designs your packs to be worn – not carried. Their approach to pack fit is as technical as the approach you’d expect from a well-fitting pair of trail runners or walking boots. The folks at Gregory know you shouldn’t size your pack with the same flippancy as you’d throw on a t-shirt.
So, the team has made the Baltoro and Deva in three back length options to provide the ideal fit based on both torso length and body shape. This is enabled further by the adjustable torso length with over 7.6cm of adjustment – plus hipbelts that adjust by up to 8.8cm on each side to provide the ultimate in custom fit.

A lifetime of adventure
But you won’t just feel good wearing the updated packs. You can also feel good about investing in the new Baltoro and Deva, knowing Gregory has re-engineered the suspension architecture of this award-winning product from the ground up in order to reduce the impact on the landscapes we love, eliminating 50% of the HDPE plastic relative to the previous generation.
The main body of the packs are built from 210D high-density 40% recycled nylon and 420D high-density 45% high density recycled nylon, and the entire pack is lined with 40% post-consumer recycled 135D polyester. All recycled textiles are purchased from traceable sources and use a PFC-free DWR, eliminating harmful longchain fluorocarbons. The reduced impact textile sourcing result in reducing this product’s carbon footprint by 31%.

Last but not least, two changes to the pack design make them more easily repaired. The sternum/chest adjustment strap can now be simply replaced and the hipbelt construction has been simplified to make it more durable, reducing the need to make any hipbelt repairs in the field, according to Gregory. Plus, the same comprehensive lifetime guarantee Gregory launched in 1996 is still in place today. It’s still being honored because, as they put it, “the brand’s very foundation was built on designing and manufacturing a superior, long-lasting, and highly durable product”.
Standing up to the test
Indeed, our gear testing team – the most experienced in Britain by a country mile – are big fans of Gregory packs. The Baltoro and Deva are in good company. Peter Macfarlane, a Highland Ranger, dubbed the Gregory Miko 30 the best daypack after his testing while Mountain Leader Lucy Wallace found the Gregory Maven 55 impressively spacious.

Personally, the Amber 65 Plus Size pack – a world first in plus size pack innovation from Gregory – changed my previously conflicting relationship with backpacking forever. It finally offered me a comfortable fit around the hips so I came off the trail feeling invigorated, not in agony. Not to mention, it kept me stable and balanced even at full capacity scrambling Crib Goch on a challenging two-day winter Yr Wyddfa Girdle route – no compromises on weight over comfort needed!
The new and updated Gregory Baltoro and Gregory Deva packs are now available so you can adventure further in comfort.
