The UK leg of the Patagonia Worn Wear gear repair tour gets underway

Patagonia is leading the way in bucking the unfortunate ‘throwaway culture’ that has crept into the outdoors world today, pushing the mantra: ‘If it’s broke, fix it!’
Fortunately for the many of us who aren’t trained in technical gear repair, Patagonia has launched a European-wide tour to do the fixing for us. From April to May 2016, the Worn Wear team will be touring 50 different venues, offering free clothing repairs and giving lessons in fixing kit from home as well.

The Worn Wear mobile repair shops will be open to anyone who brings in a garment of any brand in need of repair, fixing broken zips, rips, tears, buttons, pulls and more – for no charge.
The program was created by Patagonia back in 2013 as an extension of the brand’s long-held environmentally-friendly philosophy.
“Building a product that lasts and can be repaired is the very first and most critical step toward limiting our footprint on the environment,” said Rose Marcario, Patagonia’s CEO. “We want to empower our customers to be owners, not just consumers. It’s a simple but critical message: keep your gear in action longer and take some pressure off our planet.”
