This spotlight on the Summit-Nomad is published in partnership with our friends at Berghaus.

Hunting for the perfect insulated jacket often leads hillwalkers and mountaineers to compromise between weight and warmth. The Berghaus Summit-Nomad moves into the market this winter to fill that gap. This pocket-sized new offering from Berghaus – a trusted British brand that’s been providing outdoor gear since 1966 – is made for movement with a breathability rating of 27,556 g/m²/24hrs.

Built with versatility in mind for both men and women taking to the mountains when the mercury drops, the Summit-Nomad is designed to provide warmth while on the move, or taking a break on the trail, while packing down small.

The jacket delivers a high level of insulation at a low weight, thanks to a combination of 800 fill power hydrophobic goose down and Berghaus’ pioneering Reflect Technology, an ultra-light inner mesh that directs body heat back to your core and boosts insulation by up to 20%.

The water-resistant Hydrodown® to keep you warm for longer wherever you head outdoors is all wrapped in a lightweight, durable ripstop nylon. Built for trekking, hillwalking and scrambling, Berghaus knows that nature can be tough on even the hardiest of clothing. So, when the elements do their worst, you can rely on the Repairhaus team.

The brand has been repairing kit since 1966 and its expert crew is on hand to stitch any rip or replace any zip, if they possibly can, as many times as you need them to – for free plus the cost of sending your gear into Berghaus to fix-up on the house.

Other winter-ready features include an insulated fixed hood, ideal for protection from our fickle elements as well as elasticated cuffs to keep out the wind and chills at bay.

An internal zipped chest pocket can store the essentials and keep your smartphone working in low temperatures while two zipped hand pockets will do the same for your digits (and snacks)! A drawcord adjustment at the hem will ensure the right fit. The men’s jacket weighs 480g (size large) and the women’s jacket weighs in at 420g (UK12). When not in use, the Summit-Nomad can be packed into its own pocket and neatly stored away in your pack.

Berghaus introduces the Summit-Nomad as part of the brand’s autumn/winter Trail range. With kit that’s all made to keep you moving in comfort, the collection includes down and synthetic products with both men’s and women’s specific fit insulation throughout.
