The Terra Nova Voyager is a classic 2 person tent that has been on the market for 25 years. Its semi-geodesic design makes it relatively strong for comparatively low weight. In 2023 it was updated with PFC-free fabrics.

Alex Roddie’s verdict

In my opinion this is a robust and well-made three-plus-season tent made from high-quality materials, but it has limitations in winter, when it’s best reserved for less extreme conditions.

Although decent in high winds, I’ve found that it can be fussy regarding wind direction, and big gusts will make it deform. I think it could do with more guylines and thicker poles to improve wind resistance; it can struggle above about 30mph. The pegging points also lack adjustment, making them difficult to use with snow stakes. I found that spindrift could easily blow through the large rear vent and mesh panel in the inner. On the plus side, fabric specs are great, especially the highly waterproof groundsheet.

The main downside for winter use (or in heavy rain) is that this is an inner-pitch-first tent, which means there’s a fair chance that the inner will get soaked or covered in snow before you can tension the flysheet over it. Interior living space is not generou; the single porch is adequate for two people’s kit but difficult to cook in.

In my opinion this is a robust and well-made three-plus-season tent made from high-quality materials, but it has limitations in winter, when it’s best reserved for less extreme conditions. As such I wouldn’t call it a genuine four-season tent.
