This is the original of this style and I’ve had one in my winter pack for longer than I can remember. I still think it’s the best designed of these hats. The wired peak is easily adjusted and can be press-studded out of the way when not needed. I prefer this to the rigid peaks found on many caps. The rear adjustment means the cap can be tightened down in strong winds – there are loops for attaching a chin cord too (I definitely recommend doing this). After a dalliance with Gore-Tex the shell material is again Lowe Alpine’s Triplepoint Ceramic, which is waterproof (the seams are taped) and breathable. Warmth is excellent with flaps covering the ears and this hat can cope with the coldest weather.
