There is a lot to like about these the Montane Fury XT gloves. They are lightweight (45g for a size Medium pair) and extremely portable. You can roll these hiking gloves down very small and keep them in a trouser pocket for quick access. It is easy to lose lightweight gloves like these, so I tend to store them in my rucksack by rolling them into one another, and they end up about the size of a tennis ball.

was really happy with the levels of warmth and breathability provided by these gloves. They stand up well in chilly Autumn or Spring weather, and are thin enough that they can be used as a liner.

The fabric gives a high level of stretch in all directions. This makes them very easy to pull on and dexterity is superb. I had no problems wearing these gloves whilst carrying out fiddly tasks such as adjusting crampon straps. The tips of the forefinger and thumb have touchscreen compatible zones which work extremely well. I could even happily adjust menu settings on my mirrorless camera whilst wearing these gloves, which is often difficult with gloves claiming to have touchscreen compatibility. The cuff is semi-elasticated and offer enough stretch to access a wrist watch if needed. As someone with quite ‘skinny’ wrists however, I did find the cuff left more of an air gap than I would have liked. A silicone print covers almost the entire underside of the glove, from the bottom of the wrist to the fingertips. This is really grippy and sticks well to ice axe shafts or walking poles.

I was really happy with the levels of warmth and breathability provided by these gloves. They stand up well in chilly Autumn or Spring weather, and are thin enough that they can be used as a liner inside another glove for winter conditions. There is no waterproof lining and your hands will get wet quickly in the rain, but these gloves are quite fast-drying.

Overall the Fury XT’s are excellent hiking gloves which are ideal for fast-and-light adventures.
