I don’t generally like stiff or heavy hiking boots and these are both. However I was surprised to discover that they were quite comfortable for walking due, I think, to the rocker sole, and being available in a wide fit. Few boots are available in width fittings and Hanwag are to be praised for offering these in three widths. The sole barely bends at all but the rocker shape means that your foot can still flex when you walk. My feet stayed firmly in place too with no heel lift. The Tatra have good cushioning, good grip and hard toe and heel bumpers. There is internal foam padding and I’d expect them to be too warm in summer. I wouldn’t wear them then anyway. These are boots for the snow and for crampons.
