This is a fairly standard mid-weight fleece of the sort that has been around for years. It makes an adequate warm layer but doesn’t have the features or performance of other styles and fabrics. The fleece is fairly dense with a smooth finish. It’s warmer than Polartec 100 but not as warm as Thermal Pro or EDZ’s Yeti fleece. This makes the Road 2 Peak quite heavy for the warmth compared with other fleeces. It’s quite comfortable with roomy zipped handwarmer pockets and a stand-up lined collar. The chest pocket is quite small. The fleece doesn’t stretch but there are thinner stretch panels under the arms for ease of movement. There is a water repellency treatment to repel light rain and speed drying. The jacket is also designed to be attached to a Columbia shell if you want a combined garment. The price is quite good for a fleece of this type but I’d rather have the cheaper EDZ Yeti for warmth and a thinner fleece for active wear.
