Friends of the Lake District call for volunteers to join their Eskdale Fell Care Day to help protect and enhance this beautiful corner of the National Park

A mass-volunteering conservation event will take place in the Western Lake District on Wednesday November 8. Volunteers of all ages and abilities will be welcomed, and can choose from a wide range of tasks including:

  • Bridge building
  • Woodland work
  • Rhododendron bashing
  • Fix the Fells upland path maintenance
  • Ground maintenance at Boot Corn Mill
  • Scrub control at Boot old railway and incline historic site
  • Hedge laying
  • Girder Bridge path maintenance
  • Tree planting
  • Litter pick
  • Fix the Fells survey

Ruth Kirk, Fell Care Project Officer, said: “Our Fell Care Days have recently been shortlisted for the Campaign for National Parks 2017 Park Protector Award. This is testament to the enthusiasm and commitment of so many volunteers who have taken part over the last 7 years.

“Eskdale Fell Care Day is our last one for this year and we’d love to see both old and new faces joining us for a wonderful day out full of camaraderie, a sense of achievement and the legendary Friend’s cake!”
