This is a wonderful, technical softshell. Like the Rab Scimitar, it sets itself out as a light outerwear jacket, and both are ostensibly designed for Alpine ascents. The core is very windproof and quite thick, but underarm zips compensate somewhat for the limited breathability. The back and sleeves are a lighter and more stretchy material, but still windproof. I particularly like the two large chest pockets, and the other two side pockets are just about accessible under a pack. The hood I’m also fond of. It’s a tight-fitting one that sits comfortably under a helmet and needs no adjustment or flapping pull-cords. The sleeves are very long and have thumb loops. The cut is quite slim, and I’d have liked it a bit longer, but it’s very comfortable. A great jacket that I’ve got a lot of use out of.
