The PrimeTech Camping Stove Set is an excellent choice for group cooking. It’s designed for 1-3 people but is rather big and heavy for solo use. It can also be used with bigger pots than the 1.3 litre ones provided for cooking for more than 3 people as the pot supports can be folded out.

The burner is integrated into the windscreen and pot supports and has a low profile which, combined with the remote canister, makes it very stable. Indeed, the burner is so close to the ground that Primus provides a foil heat reflector to prevent it scorching the earth. There’s a preheat tube next to the burner head so the canister can be inverted for better performance in freezing conditions.

One nice surprise with the stove is the quietness of the burner. You can hear it but it’s nothing like the roar of most canister stoves. I thought it couldn’t be burning properly when I first lit it!

As well as two pots the PrimeTech Stove comes with a 65g detachable lockable pot grip, a separate 40g Piezo igniter, and a 60g insulated storage bag that doubles as a pot cosy. One pot has a heat exchanger on the base and a non-stick ceramic coating. The first reduces boil time and is more fuel efficient than the other pot. The ceramic coating does stop food sticking but is easily scratched – to avoid this use plastic or wooden utensils not metal and put a cloth between the two pots when storing them.

The PrimeTech Stove is easy to assemble and efficient in use. Getting it all to nest back together isn’t so easy though but the storage bag does keep everything in place.
