Not so long ago, Polartec 200 was the de facto fleece fabric, with dozens of garments available. However the introduction of lighter fabrics with the same warmth and thinner fabrics more suited to year-round use have meant that it’s not as popular as it was. Using the Swift shows why. It’s warmer than most fleece though not as warm as the Polartec Thermal Pro and EDZ Yeti fleeces, which are lighter weight and lower bulk. Except for extreme cold I find Polartec 200 too warm when walking. However as a rest-stop and camp garment it’s unnecessarily heavy and bulky for the warmth. In design the Swift is okay. I like the lined hood, which adds warmth and comfort. The handwarmer pockets are roomy but covered by a rucksack hipbelt. The patch pocket on the chest is quite small and most suitable for items like a compass, GPS or phone. The price is quite high.
