The North Face’s Summit Series returns once again following its re-launch in 2015. The premium range in mountaineering apparel features six different layers for both Men and Women, and this year comes back to keep you protected from the most extreme elements.
Along with its traditional six-layer system, from base-layer top and bottoms to 800-fill down jacket, the series this year is completed by the Alpine 50L backpack. Athlete tested on high-alpine expeditions, this 50-litre backpack features The North Face’s innovative FuseFormTM technology to eliminate seams and reduce total weight – all without sacrificing the ultimate durable performance for which the Summit Series is known.
On top of this, other pack features include a top lid that doubles as a rope-carry system, a reinforced cover for ice-axe tips, and a removable waist belt and frame sheet for making the summit push – making it hugely diverse and the perfect companion for those winter summits.
The series’ six-layer collection is comprised of layers L1 through L6, which are named as an indicator to the layer each piece should be as it is being worn, with L1 being base layer top and bottoms, and L6 the outerlayer down jacket. The new edition of the range, now available in a rosin green colourway for men and darkest spruce for women, can be found below:
L1 top and L1 bottoms are the base layering essentials that provide zonal warmth and moisture management, as well as minimal seams for mobility and comfort.

The L6 jacket, like the L5, also contains an emergency reflective flag, which can be used to attract attention. Made from excess material in the manufacturing process, it contains a large reflective Summit Series logo, for additional safety and peace of mind.
