The British brand has unveiled two new releases for later this year – and declared its commitment to eco-friendly manufacturing

The ISPO exhibition in Munich is perhaps the biggest date on any outdoor brand’s calendar. If there’s new gear to unveil to the world it’s usually done here. So of course we were in attendance to seek out all of the most exciting of the unveilings.

One of the brands that impressed was Páramo. We were invited to its booth to take a look at two jackets set to go on sale in autumn 2016: the Velez and an updated Enduro.

For these future releases Páramo has stuck with Nikwax Analogy for waterproofing. It’s a technology that is getting a good deal of praise of late due to the fact it brings weather protection without the need for PFCs – a chemical treatment used by most brands that’s considered hazardous to the environment.

As well as unveiling the new jackets at ISPO 2016 Páramo also took the opportunity to seal its commitment to reducing its eco-footprint, announcing that it is to become the first outdoors company to sign up to a program led by Greenpeace to eradicate the use of persistent pollutants in textile production.

THE VELEZ (MEN’S)

Páramo typically specialises in products for the hillwalker, however with the Velez it’s reaching out a bit wider, looking to cater for those into high tempo activities in the backcountry. At 605g (m) it’ll be a lighter option in the brand’s Nikwax proofed jacket collection. It should also have a good breathability level thanks to its zipped vents and air channels. The hood will fit over a helmet and has multiple points of adjustment and a wired peak. Out in shops in September with an RRP of £275.

THE ENDURO (MEN’S)

The brand’s popular Enduro jacket is being redesigned for autumn/winter 2016. In response to customer feedback it’ll have a slightly longer cut and the colour ways and pattern will also change. It’s a close-fitting waterproof that should make a good option for both hillwalking and mountaineering. A size medium will weigh 800g, it’ll retail at £370 and, like the Velez will be released in September 2016.
