Born from necessity on the brutal Atlantic coast, the first Dryrobe® was inspired by a homemade cape that Founder Gideon Bright’s mum sewed to keep him warm during freezing Cornish surf sessions as a teenager. That idea stayed with him until a rainy day thirty years later, when a soggy towel robe simply wasn’t enough. Gideon set out to build the world’s first waterproof and windproof changing robe: the Dryrobe® Advance.

You’ll no doubt recognise the Dryrobe® from your own blustery beach strolls. Our co-editor, an avid cold water enthusiast, calls the Advance her greatest outdoor investment. So, you may be forgiven for assuming that the design team at Dryrobe® only concern themselves with crafting kit suitable for the harshest environments.

But the team at Dryrobe® – staying true to those North Devonian roots – knows better than most that our maritime climate can throw anything at you throughout spring and summer. So, to accompany the Dryrobe® Advance, they’ve built a full range of kit to help you get outdoors, hassle-free, no matter what the forecast.

For those of you who seek packable, lightweight solutions to staying comfortable and warm post-swim, the new Full-Zip Organic Towel Robe is a game changer. Blending smart design with practicality, it is engineered for easy, comfortable changing at the water’s edge with a full-length front zipper for easy access and longer sleeves to exclude drafts and unwanted exposure. A generous cut provides room to comfortably switch out of a wetsuit or swim gear. The velour is crafted purely from 100% Organic Cotton, built for long days spent on the shoreline or ideal for spring, summer and poolside changing.

To ensure the group doesn’t fight over space, the oversized Dryrobe® Beach Towel is big enough for the entire family and its vibrant colours make it stand out on a crowded shore. Soft and velvety to the touch, this super-absorbent, premium towel is made with 100% Organic Cotton, so you can lounge in comfort for days spent on the beach or around the pool.

Both are easily packable into the Dryrobe® Compression Travel Bag – the smartest way to compress your changing robe or towel into the smallest size to travel or indeed to take home your wet kit. The main fabric is made from 100% GRS-certified recycled nylon and, at 60cm long and 30cm wide, the bag will pack down to approximately half its size.

Dryrobe® are building solutions and kit that can be easily chucked into the car boot or the back of the van – without instigating a big clean up operation once you’re home. These super-tough, ultra-warm, and water-resistant covers help keep your car clean and dry, and you cosy after a dip or a day on the beach.

This fast-drying 100% recycled headwear is water-repellent and has a UPF50+ rating, making it perfect for summer days by the shore.

Yet, our maritime climate can give us unexpected summertime drops in the mercury. For these days, when the wind whips and rain lashes, it’s time to turn to a classic. Since the first prototype, the Dryrobe® Advance has been continually refined, becoming an essential piece of outdoor kit for everyone from weekend adventurers to elite athletes. Waterproof up to 25,000mm, thanks to a durable 100% recycled Nylon outer which delivers full protection from the elements, this robe provides a complete barrier against wind and is scientifically proven to increase core temperature and aid recovery.

Its warm fleece lining features unique, quick-drying back2skin™ technology, which dries 8 times faster than the nearest competitor which means that you can wear it multiple times during the day, getting in and out of the water, without it feeling soggy. It’s also built with generous zipped and internal pockets – big enough for an OS map! – as well as a protective hood. Due to durable fabrics, all Dryrobe® products are designed to last and, therefore, create less waste – so it’s an investment you can feel good about.
