People across Wales are being invited to step out with Ramblers Cymru for their Walk About Festival this summer, from 26 May to 3 June
The walking charity is encouraging people to head outdoors to explore their local area and uncover the hidden gems on their doorstep.
During this year’s Walk About Festival, supported by players of People’s Postcode Lottery, there are hundreds of group walks on offer nationwide. Many of the walks highlight hidden gems that can be found along the way – from unexpected views and peaceful picnic spots to atmospheric ancient ruins – that can often only be spotted when you head out on foot.
Angela Charlton, Director of Ramblers Cymru, said: “Anyone who loves walking will know it’s the best way to discover the world around you – it could be an amazing secret view, a quirky old building tucked down a side-street, or simply a stunning farmland vista, that we have so much across Wales.
“Our volunteers know lots of great spots and wonderful walks across Wales and want to share them with you. If you want to discover local places that are perfect for walking, and enjoy the great outdoors in good company, come and join us on one of our walks.  And bring your friends and family too – everyone is welcome!”
Walk About Festival has something for everyone, and if you fancy an even bigger challenge, why not take on the Big Welsh Walk on Saturday 2 June – a great way to end the festival!  The Big Welsh Walk is held in Devil’s Bridge, Ceredigion where you can find various hidden gems along the four different routes.
