Fine, well-made waterproof over-trousers (as you’d expect from Patagonia) with few frills or unnecessary adornments: they’re light, reasonably durable and comfortable. In terms of weight they’re excellent. There’s no lining to snag boots or weigh you down, while the nylon fabric used feels reasonably robust. The elasticated waist is acceptably comfortable and I haven’t needed to use the internal drawcord to adjust it (you calling me fat?). The trousers offered plenty of room without being baggy, with movement unimpeded thanks to the subtle but effective leg articulation.

Calf-high ankle zips allowed the pants to be pulled over mid-cut boots, a task best carried out while sat down, as the fabric needed some help and encouragement. Slightly longer zips might have enabled them to be pulled on while standing, which I’d regard as an advantage, though they’re not alone in having that design feature – and longer zips would, of course, add weight.
