Dr Adam Watson, the renowed Scottish ecologist and mountaineer, has passed away aged 88.

On the 24th of January 2019, Iain Cameron broke the news that Dr Adam Watson “passed away peacefully last night, after a short period of illness.”

Iain Cameron, a snow expert who worked with Dr Watson studying late-lying snow in the Scottish Highlands, added in his tweet: “An irreplaceable man to his family, and to Scottish science. He will be greatly missed by many.”

Dr Adam Watson was a highly experienced mountaineer, biologist and ecologist with unrivalled knowledge of the Cairngorm mountains. He was widely regarded to be the foremost authority in his field.
