Crowdfunding campaign looks to raise £50K for essential improvements to this long-distance trail.

The Loch Lomond & Cowal Way is one of Scotland’s most beautiful and diverse trails, winding through 57 miles of lochs, mountains, castles and rivers on Scotland’s stunning south-west coast. Stretching between Portavadie on Loch Fyne and Inveruglas at Loch Lomond, it’s suitable for walkers, mountain bikers and runners. Facilities include an excellent marina, hotels, cosy B&Bs, campsites, great restaurants, cafés and bars – not to mention, of course, the outstanding heritage, wildlife and scenery.

Since 2000, the founder James McLuckie and the communities of the Way have been working to enhance the experience for everyone. Significant improvements have already been made but more needs to be done. In the next 12 months, they aim to take the Way to the next level, creating an outstanding and accessible outdoor experience for walkers, cyclists, and runners or all ages and abilities. Without fundraising, this work will not be done.

Their objective is to raise £50,000 through a crowdfunding campaign that will provide the Way with a programme of significant improvements and make this beautiful corner of Scotland more accessible to visitors. Fundraisers aim to upgrade two specific sections of the Way: one near the world-famous Cobbler, and the other at Ascog Castle.

The crowdfunding campaign is live now at crowdfunder.co.uk/lochlomondandcowalway. Rewards include limited-edition T-shirts, signed guidebooks, guided cycling tours, and more.
