Ken started Hillwalking and caving when he arrives at Lancaster University in 1976. Caving was his main passion with several expeditions to Northern Spain and one to Java. In The early 1980s he abandoned caving for rock climbing which has been his main outdoor activity ever since. He still enjoys hillwalking and completed his round of the Munros in 2022. He contributes book reviews to The Great Outdoors as well as Climber Magazine and The Climbers' Club.
